Open wide — Little Play Square
What's on the screen
A warm-gray hippo sits waiting with its mouth open. At the bottom of the screen, 3 foods are lined up, drawn from 6 kinds: apple, banana, mandarin orange, rice ball, carrot and broccoli.
How to play
Drag a food to the hippo's mouth with a finger, or tap a food and it flies into the mouth. The hippo chews, and with each food its tummy grows a little rounder. After 3 foods it lets out a contented sigh, "phew", bounces happily, and 3 new foods appear. A food let go outside the mouth simply goes back to its place. Every food gets the same response. Pressing the hippo or an empty spot makes the hippo bounce with a sound.
This game sits in Games for ages 0 and 1. The age is only a guide, so children older than that and children younger than that are just as welcome to play it.
What this game doesn't have
- Time limits and scoresThere is no countdown, no score and no run of days in a row.
- Game overThere is no state that stops a child from going on. You can stop the moment interest runs out.
- Ads and purchasesNothing can be pressed by mistake that carries a child off to another site.
- Text fieldsNo name and no email address is ever asked for. There is no sign-up either.
How to start
Just open Little Play Square and pick the Open wide picture on the home screen. Once it has finished loading, it starts up the same way in places with no signal. Sound is switched with the speaker mark on the home screen (it steps through normal, off and quiet, so the first press turns it off).
More from Games for ages 0 and 1
- Pop balloons — Balloons rise from the bottom and pop when a finger lands on one. When a touch misses, nothing happens.
- Peekaboo — Wherever a hand lands on the screen, a hidden animal looks out. A whole palm brings the answer too.
- Bubbles — The bubbles drift slowly, so there is time to bring a finger close. Popping one gives back a soft sound.
