Ensemble — Little Play Square
What's on the screen
3 animals stand in a row on a stage: from the left, a big seal, a crab and a small hedgehog. The bigger the animal, the lower its sound. There are no other buttons to press.
How to play
Tap an animal and it hops, opens its mouth and plays a short tune once, then stops. Tap another animal while one is playing and it joins in at the start of the next beat, so the parts layer into one sound. Several fingers tapping at once start together. Tapping an animal that is already playing does not restart it; it just hops with a small sound. The tune does not loop, and once it stops nothing plays. Any mix of animals, joining on any beat, fits together, and there is no score, no celebration and no ending.
This game sits in Games for 2-year-olds. The age is only a guide, so children older than that and children younger than that are just as welcome to play it.
What this game doesn't have
- Time limits and scoresThere is no countdown, no score and no run of days in a row.
- Game overThere is no state that stops a child from going on. You can stop the moment interest runs out.
- Ads and purchasesNothing can be pressed by mistake that carries a child off to another site.
- Text fieldsNo name and no email address is ever asked for. There is no sign-up either.
How to start
Just open Little Play Square and pick the Ensemble picture on the home screen. Once it has finished loading, it starts up the same way in places with no signal. Sound is switched with the speaker mark on the home screen (it steps through normal, off and quiet, so the first press turns it off).
More from Games for 2-year-olds
- Bouncy ball — Tap anywhere on the screen and the ball answers with a ring and a sound. Tap just as it lands on the floor and it bounces higher than usual, with a big ring. A tap at another moment still brings a small ring and a sound, and there is no score and no speeding up.
- Touch colors — Pick the color that matches the example. Pressing another color brings no scolding sound and no cross mark.
- Water the flowers — Press the pot and water falls; wait a little and it goes from sprout to bud to flower. Nothing ever withers.
