Ball throwing — Little Play Square
What's on the screen
A violet ball sits on a mat, with a basket up to its right (on a wide screen, just beside it on the right). There are no other buttons to press.
How to play
Sweep a finger anywhere on the screen and the ball flies the way it was swept, rising higher in its arc the faster the sweep. If it drops into the basket, a sound plays and confetti bursts up; the ball peeks out of the basket for a moment, then hops out and comes back to the mat. If it misses, it still bounces on the floor and rolls back to where it started. A simple tap makes it hop a little on the spot, and pressing the basket makes the basket bounce. Until the ball is back it is not thrown again, and pressing makes the mat bounce to show it is on its way. A miss never brings a sign of failure, and nothing ever ends.
This game sits in Games for 2-year-olds. The age is only a guide, so children older than that and children younger than that are just as welcome to play it.
What this game doesn't have
- Time limits and scoresThere is no countdown, no score and no run of days in a row.
- Game overThere is no state that stops a child from going on. You can stop the moment interest runs out.
- Ads and purchasesNothing can be pressed by mistake that carries a child off to another site.
- Text fieldsNo name and no email address is ever asked for. There is no sign-up either.
How to start
Just open Little Play Square and pick the Ball throwing picture on the home screen. Once it has finished loading, it starts up the same way in places with no signal. Sound is switched with the speaker mark on the home screen (it steps through normal, off and quiet, so the first press turns it off).
More from Games for 2-year-olds
- Cutting board — Drag a finger in one stroke across a big vegetable and it splits in two along that line. The pieces that get small enough drop into the pot, and once they are all in, the pot bubbles and steams before the next vegetable appears.
- Water break — Press the pitcher and pull it down, and water flows out as far as it is tipped and collects in the glass. Just pressing and letting go pours a little too. Press the glass and let go, and an animal comes over to drink it empty. Letting it overflow is never a mistake.
- Stack blocks — Carry the blocks anywhere you like and stack them, and tap the block stand for one more. There is no finished shape and no model, so you can stop wherever you please.
