A picture book that turns its own pages, with a reading voice and music-box music, through "one day" in the age of dinosaurs that really lived. It opens by telling how long ago and where the story takes place and introducing the dinosaurs, and after the daytime highlights it ends as night falls and the dinosaurs go to sleep.
Getting started
- Open itJust open it in the browser. Nothing to install and no account to create.
- Choose an ageThe top screen is a timeline of the dinosaurs. Choose the age you want to read from the window pictures set in the rock layers. Children who cannot read yet can choose by the pictures.
- Listen, and sleepThe story reads on by itself. At the end, choose "good night", which quietly stops the music, or go back to the timeline.
What is on the screen
A timeline of rock layers stacked up a cliff at night, and a picture-book screen whose curtain opens like a puppet theater. The dinosaurs are pixel art, drawn to look strong and cool. The screen stays dim throughout, with no flashing and no screen shaking.
What fingers do
Tap the window of an age to start reading. Pause, paging back and forward, and returning to the timeline (long press) are chosen from the control strip that opens with the "…" at the top left. Touching the pictures or the text does not stop the story, so it reads on even if a sleepy child's hand touches the screen. After "good night" is chosen, the music fades after a while and stops, and the screen stays dark.
What is inside
- Picture books with only the dinosaurs found from the same age and the same rock layer, such as Tyrannosaurus. Each book has its own music-box tune
- No scenes of dinosaurs being eaten and no blood - it goes as far as staring each other down and defending themselves
- Reading aloud uses the device's own speech feature (on a device without a voice for that language, the pages simply turn without being read aloud)
Dinosaur Picture Book
The Beginning of the Dinosaurs — Triassic
Back Plates and Sharp Claws — Jurassic
Feathered Dinosaurs — Early Cretaceous
Hunter of the Desert — Late Cretaceous
