What children this age do on the screen
This band brings in games that compare with an example: finding the shape that matches a shadow, finding the instrument that made a sound, keeping in mind the cards that were turned over.
In all of them you can choose again as often as you like. Wrong tries are not counted, and nothing is hurried along by a clock.
- Mistakes are not announcedNo buzzer, no cross mark, no red display. Pressing the wrong thing gives a soft sound and a small wobble of the picture, and that is all.
- Hear it and see it againThe example sound plays again when it is pressed, and the jigsaw shows a faint guide picture underneath.
- Numbers go up to 5Counting runs from 1 to 5. No screen asks for reading or writing.
- No hurrying by the clockThere is no time limit, no countdown and no run of days in a row.
Games for ages 3 and 4 (9)
All of them sit in the same collection of mini-games. You start by picking a picture on the home screen, and games other than the 9 listed here are lined up on that same screen.
- Counting
- Press the chicks one at a time and the sound climbs with every press (1 to 5).
- Puzzle
- Carry four pieces into the frame. A faint guide picture shows underneath, so you can see where each one goes while you carry it.
- Size order
- The same picture comes in three sizes. Children drag them onto three stands in order of size — biggest first or smallest first, either way counts. Nothing is turned away: any piece sits on any stand, and when the row is not in order the three simply wobble and wait.
- Find the match
- Turn the cards over and gather two with the same picture. You may turn them over again as often as you like.
- Shadow match
- Look only at the pale grey shadow and pick the picture of the same shape from three. You can choose again as often as you like.
- Sound match
- Pick the instrument that made the sound you heard. Pressing the example plays the same sound again, as often as you want.
- Finish the pattern
- Five pictures stand in a row and only the last place is empty, marked with a dotted outline. Below it are two pictures to choose from. Whichever one is pressed, the row itself never changes: the right one drops into the empty place and the five bounce from left to right, and the other one simply wobbles where it was pressed, leaving the row to be read again.
- Trace it
- Trace a finger over the glowing dots and the path you pass colors in. Straying from the line never sends you back to the start.
- Make a tune
- Press a square to choose a note and it sounds right away, so you can check it. Playback runs once at a time and never loops on.
The detailed account of safety, and the games for ages 6 to 8, are gathered on the Kids Games home page.
